More Modern Games Should Have a Party Mode Alongside Online Multiplayer

Party games are something often enjoyed by a wide variety of people during large gathering, where its board games such as “Monopoly” or “Candyland,” card games such as “Uno,” or even various drinking games, there are many ways to have fun with a lot of people, including video games.

There are video games that have party modes such as “Mario Party,” “Jackbox” and even “Minecraft,” on certain consoles. Games such as these allow multiple people in the same room to participate and play against each other for some easy fun. However, in the modern day of gaming where most multiplayer experiences are online, it’s harder to find good party video games.

Nowadays, the average multiplayer experience is joining online calls with friends, loading up a game and playing together. While this form of multiplayer is completely fine, it isn’t as fun when you’re all in the same room together. This could be remedied by adding a mode where others within the same room could all participate together in a game through one device.

There is one game that got me thinking about this recently, mainly “Buckshot Roulette,” an indie game by Mike Klubnika. It’s an overwhelmingly successful indie game based on the premise of playing with strategy and chance to win. Due to the game’s success, it gained an endless mode called “Double or Nothing” and even a multiplayer mode where it can be played with others online. However, there was no party mode to play with people in the same room, when it’s a game that would be perfect for one.
