Starting on May 15th, 6 pm-9 pm, you can join members, friends, and progressive allies for an evening of special guests, NYC history, live music, and good food. You can purchase tickets for $10-$150 online. The event will be held at Adler Hall, 2 W 64th St, New York, NY.
Free Ethical Experiences’ Workshops will be starting at 4:30 PM and 5:15 PM. It will have a poetry Circle with Elinore Kaplan, where you can read a favorite poem or just listen to others
The event will also offer a Colloquy with the leader, Dr Richard Koral, where you can share your reflections on a chosen topic that will be presented through parables, quotes, and poems.
As well as an Ethical Motion with Society Artist-in-Residence Jody Sperling. People of all ages, abilities, and prior movement experience are welcome.
Starting at 6 pm will be the Anniversary Presentation featuring remarks by New York Society and Ethical Culture Movement Leaders and a look back at the Society’s history and progressive impact on New York City and beyond. And a special performance by acclaimed young cellist Nathaniel. And a special panel on Ethical culture and The Encampment for Citizenship featuring Alumni Council Member Gale Brewer.
At 7:30 pm, there will be a reception and celebration featuring a live string quartet, refreshments, and many toasts.
Special Guest Felipe Luciano will be in attendance. He is an activist, author, poet, journalist, and radio host. He is a native of East Harlem’s Afro-Puerto Rican community and a founding member of the massively influential poetry and music collective The Last Poets. He co-founded the New York City chapter of the Puerto Rican Young Lords in 1969 and later the Young Lords Party. He has been honored with two Emmy Awards for his reporting and became the first person of Puerto Rican descent to anchor a major U.S. news broadcast.
The organization aims to celebrate 150 years of promoting social justice, ethical humanism, and community improvement. The event honors the organization’s history while bringing together members, friends, and activists. It focuses on future action, diverse engagement activities, and the historic legacy of activism.
