One Piece Season 2 Looks Engaging

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of “One Piece” was faithful and accessible. You would think that Eiichiro Oda’s long-running series would have a hard time translating into the silver screen—but thanks to the love and care put forth by the production team.  The “One Piece” experience—previously an anime/manga about a young pirate’s ambition to be the top dog has turned from myth to fruition.

A trailer released a couple of days ago displays the founding members of the Straw Hat Pirates: Luffy, Usopp, Zoro, Nami, and Sanji. All are placed within a skit detailing the characters having bonding time—a movie watch. It’s essentially a slumber party and matches the heartwarming energy of its source material. One can argue that the first season felt rushed, but the show’s heart is unstoppable.

In addition, the season two rollout showcased the appearance of Chopper. The Straw Hat Pirates’ attentive doctor is seen in rare form. His human-reindeer hybrid design is still intact—and surprisingly still adorable. Tony Tony, “The Cotton Candy Lover”  Chopper, has his iconic red Abraham Lincoln hat. He is voiced by actress Mikaela Hoover, and she oddly channeled his Funimation dub tonality. Ultimately, it is a good sign that the source material is being acknowledged and commemorated.

The one-piece is finally real—and Season 2 appears to continue that promise for the next generation of fans. Fortunately, there is a clear release window, unlike “Grand Theft Auto 6”.
