Op-Ed: The World Will Continue to Hate the U.S.

The United States has long grappled with fluctuating global perceptions, often oscillating between admiration and animosity. Of course, to the Americans, everyone loves them, the world revolves around them, and people want to migrate to their fantastic country because they’re simply “the best.”

This foolish, narcissistic and self-serving mindset is what makes the rest of the world hate the US. It’s almost as if the US lives inside of its own personal bubble and echo chamber.

Look at what’s happening right now: President Trump is signing executive orders left and right that do nothing to help the American people. Helping the homeless crisis? No, but he’ll change the “Gulf of Mexico” to the “Gulf of America.” Lowering the price of groceries? No, but now English is the official language of the US!

It’s almost as if President Trump has made or said something controversial daily just to make Breaking News headlines. He called out Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for not wearing a suit as if that’s the biggest problem to him at the moment and not the war in his country. Trump also has his little puppet, Elon Musk, a non-elected bureaucrat following him around like a dog. Not to mention, in Trump’s speech to congress he falsely stated that he has “brought back freedom of speech” even though his administration banned AP News from covering the white house and announced that the white house would personally pick their pool of reporters.

Let’s discuss the weakening global relations between America and other countries. President Donald Trump’s recent foreign policy decisions have been emblematic of this trend of pushing us from strong, beneficial relationships with other countries. His transactional approach to international relations, characterized by immediate cost-benefit analyses, has strained traditional alliances and emboldened adversarial powers. For instance, Trump’s suspension of military aid to Ukraine has raised concerns among US allies, potentially weakening NATO and diminishing American influence in Europe.

President Donald Trump preaches he has ended censorship in America yet removed Rep. Al Green from his congressional speech for speaking his mind. When will the hypocrisy end?

It doesn’t even matter if you’re a Republican or a Democrat; as American citizens, can you not see that the United States is the laughingstock of the world? The world’s antipathy toward the United States is not an immutable fate but a consequence of Donald Trump’s policies and actions.

Another major issue is the Trump administration’s blatant disregard for climate agreements. While European nations push forward with sustainability goals, the US remains an outlier, rolling back environmental protections and cozying up to fossil fuel giants. We can all agree that the message is clear: short-term profit is more important than the planet’s future.

The rest of the world does not exist to serve American interests. Shall I repeat myself? The rest of the world does not exist to serve American interests and their backward goals. Until the Trump administration realizes that they are setting this country back, the world will continue to hate the US, not out of envy, as some Americans love to believe, but out of sheer exhaustion for American stupidity.
