Peter Edward Rose was born April 14, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio. One of four children, and always small for his age, Rose had to fight an uphill battle to become the superstar he was. In high school Rose played second base, shortstop, and catcher all while batting .626. Lucky for Rose, his Uncle was a scout for the local professional team, the Cincinnati Reds. After he graduated high school he signed a contract with the team.In his first season he won NL Rookie of the Year, and was given the nickname “Charlie Hustle” for his style of play.
Rose broke countless records for the Reds before going to the Philadelphia Phillies for a four year stint. He then signed with the Expos before returning to Cincinnati and retiring a Red.

Despite all of these accolades, he was banned from the MLB for gambling on games and has been left out of the hall of fame. Pete Rose died on September 30th, 2024 as the all time leader in MLB hits.
