Post Malone Deserves Album of the Year (Op-Ed)

Singer-songwriter Post Malone released his sixth studio album titled ‘F-1 Trillion’ on August 16th, but this record was different than anything Malone had released in the past. Going from rap to pop, Posty has been known to switch up his genre but this time around he did a complete 180, releasing a full country album. He had been teasing going country since 2020 when he worked on Matthew McConaughey’s We’re Texas virtual benefit concert and covered some classic country songs. But it wasn’t until this year that he made music of his own.

Malone says that he traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to work on the album and got as many country stars as he could to work on songs with him. “I heard he was gonna be working on this thing and I just wanted to be a part of it”, said country superstar Luke Combs who is on two songs on the album. Other artists featured on the album include; Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Dolly Parton, Brad Paisley, and more.

“Everyone here was so accepting and kind, that’s a testament to them,” Malone said in an interview with CBS.

The record debuted with 250,000 units sold in its first week. In addition to that, last week’s Billboard Hot 100 featured every song on the album made it onto the list with the highest being ‘I Had Some Help’ ft. Morgan Wallen coming in at number two. The album is also ranked number one in the country across all genres according to Billboard.

Malone dropped a deluxe version of the album just hours after the original, titling it ‘F-1 Trillion: Long Bed’, its nine beautifully written songs with just Posty and no features. The lyrics pull at heartstrings and tell stories that show a side of him that we have never seen before. It’s an extraordinary mix of new-age country sound with a 90s country feel.

It is truly an incredible debut into a genre and it’s remarkable how well he fits into the country scene. Malone has proven that he is one of if not the most versatile artists in the world, he is now the first person in history to have an album chart number one in country, rap, rock, and alternative. If that doesn’t do it for you, listen to the favorite album of the year yourself, ‘F-1 Trillion: Long Bed’ is available on all platforms now.
