President Trump’s Plans for War on Iran

On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched a major military operation on Iran. This included a series of strikes against Iran’s leadership, security forces, and nuclear and missile sites. The strikes were a part of Operation Epic Fury, a codename made by the U.S. Department of Defense. During the attacks this previous Saturday, Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was assassinated.

The United States has been attempting to negotiate with Iran and take action against its government consistently. There has been an inability to reach a diplomatic agreement between Iran and the United States in order for Iran to curtail its nuclear program. The Iranian regime continued to expand both its nuclear and ballistic missile programs despite negotiation efforts, and the United States would not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.

After the announcement of the attacks on Iran, President Trump made an initial statement saying that Iran posed a threat to the core national security interests of the United States. He also said that military action would take down the Iranian navy, destroy the country’s missile sites and program, and also limit the amount of terrorist organizations that stem from Iran.

As the war moves into its third day, Trump continues to announce plans for the future of the war and Iran itself. He claims that the US forces are ahead of schedule, as they are quickly taking on both Iran’s missile capacities and its navy and ships. Trump has stated he assumes the war will last at least four weeks, but because they are ahead of schedule, the time frame may shorten. However, he has also stated that if the war needs to continue past four weeks, the US military has the means to do so.

On Monday, March 1, police stations, intelligence centers, and paramilitary security forces were bombed. Trump plans to continue with larger strikes and greater force as the war persists. There have been no soldiers on Iranian soil as of now, with all strikes being done via airstrike, but Trump has not ruled out the necessity of sending troops directly into Iran.

Protections have been made across the United States military bases to ensure maximum security within the United States. Trump has stated on multiple bases that the strikes against Iran were the ‘last best chance’ to ensure no nuclear weapon or program is followed through, and that it was ‘the right thing to do.’

As of today, there is no set end to the war or to the strikes, and the attacks are expected to continue as the week moves forward.
