Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz aka Rauw Alejandro is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter. Born in San Juan, Alejandro’s taste in music was inspired by R&B and dancehall music, popular genres of the cities he grew up in in the mainland United States.

Alejandro began a music career after leaving behind soccer through SoundCloud. His first mixtape, Punto de Equilibrio, was released in 2016 and the success of it lead to Alejandro signing with Duars Entertainment a year later.

He released his first single, Toda, In December 2017 and a few months later he was chosen to be apart of the Los Proximos musical project from Sony Music Latin for new talent. This opportunity allowed Alejandro to gain new listeners and collaborate with his peers in the field.

As the years went by, Alejandro’s music in particular his remixes of his singles became smash hits. His 2020 single Fantasias would land him a Latin Grammy Award for  Best Urban Fusion/Performance in 2021.

Additionally, Alejandro featured in many tracks from popular artists including María Becerra, Lenny Tavárez,  Jennifer Lopez and even Shakira.

Currently, Alejandro has released sixth studio albums as of September 2025 and has 1.1 million albums sold.
