Record Breaking early voting in Georgia causes polls to close

Officials in Georgia have reported over 300,000 cast ballots on Tuesday. Gabriel Sterling, the COO of Georgia Secretary of State Republican Brad Raffensperger, took to X to announce this news.

His post read, “With the record-breaking 1st day of early voting and accepted absentees we have had over 328,000 total votes cast so far.” And writing in another post, “Over 300,000 votes cast today that’s 123% higher than the old record for the 1st day. Great job counties & voters”

It is miraculous that so many people came out to vote and were able to do it in an orderly fashion, considering the effect recent hurricanes have had across the state. “When you think back to where we were two and a half weeks ago, this is a cause for celebration. So many people said, ‘What’s going to happen? There’s no way you’ll have elections starting in Georgia on time,’” said Brad Raffensberger. He was proud to announce that every single county in the state of Georgia was able to start early voting on time despite the devastation of the storms.

Whoever they chose to vote for, Georgians for eager to make their voices heard. The data hub will be up to date with the results of these polls were available shortly after polls closed, which happened in this case at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The results had Trump slightly ahead of Harris, but the race seems to be very close in a significant battleground state.
