Sally Kirkland, Dead at 84

Sally Kirkland was an American actress most famous for her roles in the movies ‘Anna’, ‘The Sting’, and ‘Bruce Almighty’. She was well known in the industry and had an extensive list of films and TV shows she participated in. Unfortunately, she has passed away at the age of 84.

Kirkland died today, Tuesday, November 11, at Palm Springs hospice. Before entering hospice care, she had suffered from two life-threatening infections and had suffered several major falls. With these major health risks and living with dementia, it was decided to have her enter hospice care.

Sally Kirkland was an icon of the film industry, having appeared in over 250 films and TV shows over the course of her 60-year career. She has received an Oscar nomination for her role in “Anna”. She was also known as a controversial figure during her time due to her being one of the actresses who pioneered performing nude for films. While performing nude has become far more common in recent years, at the time of her rise, it was an uncommon choice.

After her death, many people gave their condolences on social media and shared their thoughts about the lost actor.

On a GoFundMe page, a message was left sharing their thoughts: “Sally has been more than just a friend,” they continue, “she has been a maternal figure, offering encouragement, wisdom, and love when it was needed most. For those who know Sally personally, she has been a limitless source of generosity, kindness, and unwavering spirit.”.

Her representative also gave a statement: “Anyone who knew Sally’s work as an actress understands that she was a master of her craft in large part because of her profound and genuine compassion for all people,”.

Sally Kirkland was an icon of Hollywood, and with her death, many will miss her unique charm. May she rest in peace.
