Recently, on October 18th, it was confirmed the Sam Rivers, Limp Bizkit’s bassist, passed away at the age of 48. Based on the call put out to the relevant authorities, it seems that the cause of death was cardiac arrest, but that has not been formally confirmed.
Sam Rivers was an American singer and musician who was a backing vocalist and bassist of the metal band Limp Bizkit, which he co-founded. He first got into music due to John Otto, the drummer of the band. In their early years, the two believed they were cousins, but it was later discovered that their parents were not related.
Sam Rivers was active as a musician for most of his life, beginning his career in 1994 and only ending with his death this year. He was forced to quit for some time due to liver disease, which kept him from the stage for years before he made a return. He was voted the Best Bass Player at the Gibson Awards in 2000.
In an Instagram Post, the band put out a statement regarding River’s death, “Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat,” the statement continues, “Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.”
River’s former bandmates were not the only ones to come out and show their grief and offer tribute to his memory. Hundreds of fans have made their voices heard and have given their condolences and wishes towards Rivers and his loved ones. Rivers was a beloved musician and may he rest in peace.
