Silent Hill F Might Be the Craziest One Yet

The revival of the “Silent Hill” franchise has been glorious to watch. Years of online dedication and PlayStation 2 emulators have led to a new wave of fans — those who weren’t alive to witness the franchise’s peak years in the early 2000s. Culminating in the Bloober Team 2024 remake of “Silent Hill 2” to rave reviews and fanfare. Fortunately, the franchise’s resurgence has not stopped there.

Introducing “Silent Hill f”— the eighth installment in the franchise. Interestingly, the game is heading in a Japanese horror direction — considering that “Silent Hill” has historically fused it with Western Horror. The developers have even built the game around a J-horror concept — finding terror in beauty.

The setting is in 1960s Japan, and the protagonist is Hinako Shimizu, a high school student. As her hometown gets swallowed by “Silent Hill” fog, she must fight for her life within the disorienting hellscape to survive . “f” also has choices depending on your decision-making during the story mode. So make sure you choose wisely and efficiently.

Furthermore, I could not help being reminded that “Silent Hill f” is a bit of a throwback. The game’s atmosphere harkens back to Japanese horror games in the PS2 era, such as Tecmo’s “Fatal Frame” and PlayStation “Siren.” So if “Silent Hill f” has easter eggs and vibes similar to the games — then I am buying this day one.

Set to release on Sep. 25, 2025 — “Silent Hill f” is looking to be an installment that is continuing the franchise’s trademark psychological horror. Make sure you pre-order because, based on the trailer, “f” looks to play tricks on your mind and soul.
