Shane Michael Boose, aka Sombr, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born in New York City, Boose gained an interest in music at an early age and started experimenting with music composition software like GarageBand and eventually graduated to Logic Pro X. Boose began taking music production seriously during high school, eventually leading to one of his songs, Caroline, going viral.

The success caught the attention of a major music label, which only intensified after the release of his debut single, “Nothing Left to Say, under the stage name Sombr in October 2021. Boose continued to release music independently until 2023, when he signed on with Warner Records and released a single followed by an extended play.

Boose’s popularity steadily climbed, gaining a bigger boost when two of his singles went viral on TikTok in March 2025, leading them to chart on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Global 200 charts. Boose has collaborated with popular artists including Nessa Barrett, Daniel Seavey, and Addison Rae. Additionally, Boose has received nominations at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards and a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist.
