Star Wars Movie Had to Completely Change Its Ending

In the summer of 2027, Star Wars is expected to return to the screens of theaters across the United States with the release of ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’. However, that may change as in a recent interview, the director of the film, Shawn Levy, the man behind the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ movie, revealed that they needed to completely change the ending of the future film.

‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ is the first movie that is planned to take place after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ in the timeline of the series. The movie is set to tell the story of a roguish pilot who, through some twist of fate, is paired with a young kid in their journey. The overall plot of the film has been a secret that the director has worked hard to keep.

On a podcast with Kevin McCarthy, Levy gave the following statement regarding the new ending: “On Starfighter, we had a whole different idea for something in the third act, and then things didn’t align, and I was forced to come up with a new idea,” he continues, ”And I’m literally right now shooting that section of the movie, and every day I’m grateful that the way I was supposed to do it didn’t work out. Because the new idea that it forced me to explore is so much better than the original would have been.”

Shawn Levy has a tough challenge in front of him with his movie to be the first to follow the disastrous release of the sequel trilogy, which caused a massive divide in the fanbase with the director’s decisions in those films to disregard established rules of the setting for dramatic moments, as well as killing off the beloved characters Luke, Han, and Leia.

In a statement, Shawn Levy has shown that he is aware of the pressure on his shoulders: “It does feel different. It’s harder and a more unique pressure than any other movie you could make,” he continues, “Because you go into it understanding how deeply emotional the connection with audiences is. Now, you could argue, ‘That’s true of Marvel. That’s true of other franchises.’ But nothing is as religious an allegiance as Star Wars. And so the need, the pressure (self-inflicted mostly) to get it right, that’s intense.”
