Stranger Things Final Season Will Make or Break the Series

The final showdown for the rag-tag team of outcasts will soon be upon us, as it seems like the last season will drop sometime this year. We are still unsure of how this finale will go down, but the long wait has given us time to reflect on how far this series has gone and whether it will end with a bang or a whimper.

There has luckily been no indication that the show will exit at a low point, as most of the seasons have been great overall with minor gripes here and there. I found the third season to be the weakest one so far, but it still had my attention all the way through and was a worthy addition. The long wait for the final season does promote confidence that they are taking their time to make it the great spectacle that it should be. However, the wait has also heightened the expectations for this season to the point where anything less than amazing will feel more of a letdown. This dilemma harkens back to the discussion about bad endings and how detrimental they can be to a show’s reputation.

It is still far too early to make any assumptions about the quality of the next season, but I do think that the showrunners need to release it sooner rather than later if they want to capitalize on the show’s popularity. I have high hopes for the Stranger Things crew, and I believe they will do their best to give their characters a proper sendoff.
