"New" Artist of the Month for April 2025
Tate Rosner McRae is a popular Canadian dancer and singer-songwriter. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, MvRae began dance training at age six McRae. She began attending The American International School Muscat (TAISM) where she continued to train.
As the years went on McRae trained through a variety of dance styles, training at other dance companies like YYC Dance Project and the School of Alberta Ballet. By 2022, McRae graduated highschool.
McRae began gaining recognition as a professional dancer starting, winning dance competitions, performing in music videos, and even becoming a brand ambassador for the Anerican dance shoe company Capezio. That said, her first real glance at Fame was in 2016 where she became the first Canadian finalist in the show So You Think You Can Dance. During that same year she performed at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards and on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the Jump Dance Convention troupe.
Her transition towards music began in 2017, where she began uploading original songs on her YouTube channel. Her first song, One Day, garnered over 40 million views. The success led her to release the song independently, where it became her first certified gold track in Canada. McRae continued to release songs on her YouTube channel and it eventually attracted attention from record labels.
McRae signed on with RCA Records in 2019 and released three the singles Tear Myself Apart, All My Friends Are Fake and Stupid. These tracks would be included in her debut EP All the Things I Never Said, in 2020. The success led her to make the All the Things I Never Said Tour, which sold out in Europe and North America.
McRae released her first album in 2022 titled I Used to Think I Could Fly which debuted at number 52 in the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top 10 in Canada, Ireland, Norway, Singapore, Belgium. Her second album Think Later released in 2023 debuting on the top five charts world wide in Billboard 200. Her third album So Close to What released in February 2025, with the single So Close To What becoming McRae’s first number 1 spot on the Billboard 200.
McRae has over 5 million subscribers on YouTube and over 6 million on Instagram.
