Taylor Swift Tops Spotify Wrapped Charts

It’s been another big year for Taylor Swift – her merchandise, from The Eras Tour Book to vinyl to concert tickets, has boosted world economies and broken sales records. Nobody can get enough of Swift, evident in the latest record she’s broken, as Spotify’s most listened-to artist of 2024.

On Wednesday, December 4, Spotify released its highly anticipated “Spotify Wrapped,” a fun year-in-review for its subscribers and a way to consolidate listener data. Swift was crowned the honor of most streamed artist for a second year in a row—an impressive feat for the woman once famous for dissenting against streaming services.

Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poet’s Society,” was also Spotify’s most streamed album of the year. Her music earned Spotify 26.6 billion streams alone. When she dropped “The Tortured Poets Society” earlier this year, the album gained instant traction on the app and broke several records. It was the first album to reach 300 million streams in one day and more than one billion in its first week.

Taylor Swift is leading a pack of ferociously talented female artists in the music industry. Not only did women make up all the nominees for multiple Grammy pop music categories, but they also made up eight of the top ten most streamed albums on Spotify this year. Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, Ariana Grande, and SZA are joining Swift in the ranks.

While all of these artists are impressive in their own right, Swift remains the queen of Spotify, with three of the top ten albums—“Tortured Poets Society,” “Lover,” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”

To celebrate Swift and thank her for the streams she has brought to the app, Spotify is adding a special “Wrapped Badge” to her profile to signify her honor as top artist of the year. They are also including new easter eggs for fans who stream her music. When listening to her albums, the “play” button will have small animations representing her different eras.
