The danger of the Minecraft movie trend

“A Minecraft Movie” has been a success at the box office. The kids love it, with clips of the movie being memed into oblivion on TikTok and YouTube Shorts. As much as Jason Momoa and Jack Black’s headlined movie has gotten eyes all over it, there has been some bad publicity as well. An incident that has been referred to as the “Chicken Jockey”.

The origins of “Chicken Jockey” is when Jack Black’s character Steve shouts the word as Jason Momoa’s Garrett Garrison gets ready to fight a baby zombie riding on the back of a chicken. This scene, as seen in viral clips, has caused younger viewers to go crazy. All of them launching popcorn into the air – which at first seems harmless, right? Well, some viewers have gone so far as to bring live chickens and other inane items, causing a frenzy in the theater.

Movie theaters’ response? They’ve given out warnings not to throw popcorn or objects in the air. In Addition, they also said that a child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A rule that has shown their frustration in regards to this Chicken Jockey trend.

Even actors such as Jack Black supported the movie’s theater mandates and publicly urged audiences to not throw popcorn and no “chicken jockeys”, Which is a fitting resolution to the incidents and pandemonium.

With “A Minecraft Movie” already being a box office success – it has been expected that its future is looking encouraging. Commercially, it will continue to stay in theatres, but hopefully, the trend will continue to die down for the foreseeable future.
