The Trump Administration’s Bias Towards White South African Refugees Is Thanks To Elon Musk

The Trump Administration’s welcoming of white South African refugees should not come as a surprise to anyone. White South Africans have been a group of people that right-leaning groups and politicians have centered on for years, with problematic ideologies like the Great Replacement theory.

While Trump has previously made comments supporting white South Africans, this bold shift towards white South African support could likely be due to the influence of Elon Musk. As a significant figure in right-leaning spaces and as a South African American immigrant, it is likely that Musk had some influence on this decision.

Musk has repeatedly called his home country anti-white due to the reported discrimination white farmers have undergone since apartheid ended. Regardless, white South Africans are still some of the most economically privileged people within the country, as a majority of them still own South African land despite only making up a small percentage of the country.

While it may be easy to forget to some, apartheid ended in the early 1990s, with many of the people who were involved still living today. This move has drawn an unsurprising amount of criticism from left-leaning politicians and voters on and off social media. Many have wondered why these white refugees were made the exception while other black and brown refugees have been denied entry into the United States.
