The White House passes GOP spending bill

In breaking news, the House has recently passed the GOP’s funding bill. The bill was approved on Tuesday, with a 217 to 213 vote. Only 1 Republican opposed it, while 1 Democrat supported it. The House Republicans had the majority of votes and have shown an unwillingness to work with the Democrats. Under their views sparking a rather unattractive proposition to seniors, veterans, healthcare and middle class families.

The bill consists of increased spending and funding for veterans care, plus more funding for ICE. It also decreases non defense spending below 2024 levels. To note, the government is set to run out of funds by Friday. Fortunately, the House Democrats have proposed a one month extension to finalize a new funding agreement. So, a shutdown is not in the cards yet.

After the approval, the measure goes to the Senate. This is where many Democrats will be needed to pass the continuing proposition and forward it to the President. It’s a tough position considering many Senate Democrats have opposed the stop gap measure. Although they prefer more of a shorter-term measure to flesh out newer spending bills. The Democrats have also played a role in preventing government shutdown.

Regardless of the House’s impatience, they need 60 votes from the Democrats before the date of April 11th. We’ll have to see if the next phase of the process goes out smoothly or roughly. It’s only a month away but before you know it, the decision will already be upon the House to decide.
