“The White Lotus” Finale Shocks Fans

SPOILERS AHEAD!

“The White Lotus” finale is out, and it has gotten mixed reviews. Some fans were shocked, some disappointed, but I found the exploration of whether people can truly move beyond their worst selves and past mistakes to be really important this season.

Almost every major character in the finale faces a difficult choice about who they want to be or not be. Rick discovers that Jim Hollinger is his biological father after having killed him because he believed he was his father’s killer.

Ratliff contemplates poisoning his family and puts poisonous seeds of a local fruit into four piña coladas, which he invites his family to drink with him on their last night in Thailand. At the last minute, he changes his plans and tells everyone that the coconut milk is sour. However, the following day, his son Lochlan mixes a protein shake in the same blender as the poison seeds and almost dies.

Belinda grapples with financial problems. She was previously portrayed as morally upright, but she accepts a $5 million hush payment from Greg (now Gary), mirroring past betrayals and highlighting the corrupting influence of money.

So, every character makes immensely important decisions in this finale, and those decisions often reflect the central question of the season: Can people truly change, or are they always tethered to their worst instincts?
