Beloved Australian-based children’s band The Wiggles announced on January 10 that they will be releasing their next studio album in 2025, and this time, they’re going country! The colorful band known for bops like “Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy” and “Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car” are putting on their rainbow cowboy boots and fringe vests as they prepare for their first venture into the country genre.
Wiggle Up Giddy Up will be available for sale and streaming on March 7. The album will feature collaborations with some of the biggest country stars in the United States, including Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, Orville Peck, Dasha, and more. It will also feature a collaboration with the late Australian country singer Slim Dusty, who died in 2003.
The Wiggles was formed in 1991 by Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt, Greg Page, and Phillip Wilcher, though the latter left the group after the release of their first album. In their signature colors, the original Wiggles began as a music group that focused on creating songs for early childhood development. They toured Australia and later the US and UK. In 1997, they released The Wiggles Movie, which grossed over $1 million, making it the fifth highest-grossing Australian film of the year. They sold a television series to the Disney Channel the following year, officially making the group a household name.
Today, Anthony Field, “The Blue Wiggle,” is the only original band member performing with the group. Since the 2010s, the band has expanded to include eight members – including four women. Always excited for new adventures, The Wiggles are thrilled with their latest album.
“This is one of the most exciting projects we’ve ever been part of; in fact, I’ve never spent so much time on an album before,” Field said. “Country music is all about storytelling and connection, and combining that with The Wiggles’ fun and imagination felt like the perfect match. We can’t wait for families everywhere to hear these songs!”
