Trump’s State of the Union Address was a Complete Nightmare

The State of the Union took place last night, and ended up being one of the longest speeches in the event’s history lasting for nearly two hours. President Trump looked to address where the United States currently stood in several aspects regarding the welfare of the country, touching on topics such as border security, tariffs, the economy, and much more. While Trump attempted to assure the population that everything was under control, many called out his speech, claiming that the president produced a false image of where the country truly stands.

Democrats took little to no time to catch on to Trump’s lies while Republicans defended Trump’s speech, stating that America has never been better. Both sides had very different takeaways from the speech with one thing being for certain—and that is that America has never been more divided before.

Trump described the economy of the U.S. as being in good standing. He stated that inflation was being managed and that everything is “affordable”. However, Californian Representative Brad Sherman has condemned these claims, making it clear that they couldn’t be any further from the truth. Sherman stated that Trump’s address was the longest and worst address in American history.

Sherman was not the only person to debunk the president’s lies as Jim McGovern, Representative of Massachusetts, believed that his array of lies was intended to confuse the minds of the people, stating that his “strategy is to flood the zone with so much BS that it’s impossible to keep up”. Trump’s inability to communicate honestly to American citizens and take accountability for areas that need improvement reflect his own selfishness and determination to protect his ego at all costs.

Arizonian Senator Mark Kelly acknowledged the tragic economic state of the U.S., refuting Trump’s claims that everything is affordable and even stating that families can barely afford to buy groceries and that people are “struggling to purchase prescription drugs”.

So by the looks of it, the country doesn’t seem to be on one accord—at all. Trump’s opportunity to bridge the gaps and bring Americans together again fell flat once more as most people refused to fall for his lies and believe that the country is in a good position. It will be interesting to see what Donald Trump does over the course of 2026 to get the U.S. back on track and fix the current issues that are plaguing our country today.
