Trump and his Republican allies have had their hopes up on the recent Tariffs announced by the administration. They hope that these tariffs will usher in a new age of American progress, encouraging citizens.
These tariffs are seen by Republicans and MAGA supporters as the long-awaited solution to bringing back factory work to communities that have been left behind when companies moved their production outside of the US.
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that these tariffs will be helpful to the American economy. Prices for essential items like food and clothing will skyrocket.
Non-essential and leisure activities will also be affected as well. In the video game industry, these tariffs have caused prices of upcoming systems like the Nintendo Switch 2 to rise up to $500. Additionally, individual triple-A video game title prices have risen to at least $80, due to tariffs against China and Taiwan.
While Trump will have the public believe that these effects will only be in the short term, they likely will last for decades to come. These Tariffs will only make Americans’ lives even harder and further alienate us from the rest of the world.
The Trump administration has done quick work to hurt the US’s global reputation in the past few months. Sadly, as the months go by, the US will definitely be feeling the effects of this administration for decades to come.
