Using AI For Music is a Dangerous Path

AI is often a hot topic in many areas of discussion because of its versatility. Many jobs and media are still new to the technology and how to properly use it, with music being no different. AI has shown itself to be useful in copying voices and coming up with lyrics, but it can also become a slippery slope.

At the moment, AI music is being implemented in harmless ways. Many people like using it to make parodies of songs or do covers of them. The videos of fictional characters singing to current music are enjoyable. Artificial intelligence can also be helpful for creative ideas and other indirect inputs. However, this technology can be abused to the point of removing the soul from the song production process.

As impressive as AI can be, it has many limitations that can only be achieved through the human mind. Artists can innovate and create new rhythms and lyrics, while AI is only capable of replicating older works. Not to mention that hearing real people use their voices to sing will always trump artificial intelligence. Using AI to assist in the process is fine, but it should not be doing most of the leg work.

Like most things in life, there needs to be a balance. Imagine a world that replaces talented singers and producers with algorithms and computers. There wouldn’t be a point to get excited about new releases or concerts. I think AI is incredible, but it will never be able to replace a human being.
