Victoria’s Secret’s 2025 Fashion Show came and went, leaving viewers divided across the internet. This is the company’s second show after a five-year hiatus, when in 2019, the event came under fire for its lack of diversity.
Victoria’s Secret’s 2025 show seemed to correct this mistake, but for many, that correction wasn’t enough. Criticism varied widely following the event, with many online lamenting the lack of flair, similar to criticisms of its 2024 show.
Unlike past shows, there was hardly any glamour, no big and glittery wings or fantastical outfits. Despite its diversity, viewers online complained that the models looked bland.
That said, the largest complaints about the event were the models that walked the runway. A large number of the models walking were a mixture of nepo babies. Many have complained that Victoria’s Secret showed favoritism towards certain models due to the quality of their outfits.
The fans of popular American YouTuber and Model Quenlin Blackwell were among the largest to voice this point. Despite the large outpouring of support, many were disappointed at how lackluster her outfit and wings were compared to others like Angel Reese, who Blackwell has debuted.
Expectations were certainly high, exasperated by the event’s lengthy hiatus; that said, some of these criticisms are warranted. Victoria’s Secret should have the capability of providing enjoyable shows similar to ones of the past, but it’s clear from its 2024 show that it still has a long way to go.
