What Happened with House of Dragons?

Back in 2022, many “Game of Thrones” fans were given a whole new show, set in the same universe and predating the events of the Starks and Lannisters. “House of the Dragons” was overall successful in drawing us back into the world and displayed a large abundance of intriguing new characters and engaging conflicts. After season one ended with a huge cliffhanger, we waited with bated breath to see how things would play out in season two.

The second season dropped two years later, but the buzz around the show was not as exciting as it was for the first season. The general audience had mixed feelings about the show, and its viewership saw a slight decrease. Although there is still hype for season three, I feel like the mainstream has somewhat forgotten about the show after the second season.

One reason for this might be because of season two’s reception. For most people, it was just a good season, with nothing too amazing or terrible to talk about. The reason HBO’s “The Last of Us” series has gotten so much attention is because of the polarizing opinions from fans, discussing what the show is doing right and what it did wrong. “House of Dragons” has its issues. Still, there are issues that everyone agrees on.

The show gradually descends into a slow burn throughout each episode, with its energy only really picking up at the finale. This isn’t necessarily an issue in of itself, seeing as much of “Game of Thrones” revolved around understanding the characters and where their allegiances lay. However, it seemed not to work as well for “House of the Dragons”, which might explain the decrease in enthusiasm for season three. Hopely, season three will pick up the ante and grab people’s attention!
