Summer nights in 2020 lockdown
To autumn falling leaves.
Three years flew by,
Quicker than the Susquehanna valley breeze.
Last time I was here
Bliss and wedding bells rang.
Everything is different
Yet it all looks and feels the same.
Family brings joy
Along with memories past.
A week and a half trip—
But I want to freeze this moment, so it can last.
A refuge from hurt and pain,
Three years ago and now today.
Living here feels like a blip in time.
Oh, how life changes in so many ways.
And to the people I love here,
Forever my kind.
I’m dreading the see you later, the goodbye.
Past memories and good times often fill my mind.
Though we went our separate ways, years ago,
Our hearts are still intertwined.
Bound by blood and soul,
I’ll forever cherish this place, what once was home.
I found a new self here the first time around.
Three years later a different version appears,
One who can be grateful for the pain, the love,
The heartache, that first brought me here.
I’d love to take her hand,
Walk again in her shoes—
But for now I’ll enjoy this brief moment
Singing our hearts out in harmony.
“For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while.
… It’s something unpredictable
But in the end, it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.”
I did.
I do.
With loved ones I’m leaving only for now,
The ones who forever come through.
