Next week, the third film of the Deadpool trilogy will be released in theaters. Deadpool & Wolverine sees the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and of course, Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Deadpool.
With the Marvel Multiverse in full effect, this movie has teased a team-up between Deadpools across the multiverse. This includes a female version of the hero, which has been teased in some of the movie’s official trailers.
These teasers have led to speculation over who could be portraying Lady Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Below are some of the more popular opinions:
- Taylor Swift: Rumors swirled last fall that Swift could be added to the MCU in one of their upcoming projects. And now with the newest trailer showing viewers that Lady Deadpool is blonde, fans are beginning to think it could be Swift. This feels way too unrealistic to me considering Taylor Swift has been headlining a world tour, but we have seen much crazier things happen.
- Blake Lively: Lively seems to make the most sense and this choice seems to be the most glaring. Lively has already played the love interest to Ryan Reynolds in a superhero movie, in 2011’s Green Lantern. Not to mention the fact that Lively is Ryan Reynolds’s wife and if she is ever going to appear in the MCU like she has been speculated to be, it would be alongside her husband.
- Ryan Reynolds: Lastly, and my personal favorite, is Reynolds himself. It feels like stirring up all of this buzz around the movie by keeping Lady Deadpool’s identity a secret just to play the role himself is such a Ryan Reynolds thing to do. It will not surprise me if we see Ryan Reynolds rocking a blonde wig and interacting with the other version of his character. Especially with all of his constant fourth wall breaks, I think this would be something to add even more comedy to what should be a hilarious film.
