Last night at a bar, I was entrenched toward the TV. Now I wasn’t the only one, as a big group viewed the spectacle as well. It was the U.S. Open 2025 and the two players were going head to head: Coco Gauff and Ajla Tomlajanovic.
To say the least, the match itself was intense. Even Olivia Munn was on the edge of her seat watching it. However, as the biblical saying goes: “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning”. That’s how I felt when Coco Gauff survived and defeated Tomlajanovic.
At first, Gauff’s opening shot was a bit rough. Her serving has been constant ire. So, in response, she hired a biomechanic expert to rework her shot. Mentally exhausting for the Women’s Tennis 2023 Champion, she still was able to get in the right groove and defeat her opponent. Making the United States proud as a parent cheering on their child.
Coco Gauff won 6-4 6-7 7-5 in three of her sets at Flushing Meadows, NY. Although many felt that she was not confident, Gauff showed that it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
This is what separates the best players from the rest. They have to take sacrifices and risks in order to get to the mountain top. Coco Gauff is reaching towards this template, and the more you know it will be ranked as among the greats in her sport.
