Why Do Some People Refuse to Eat Pizza Crust?

One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to pizza is when someone eats the entire slice and refuses to eat the crust. Why not just eat it? Does it really taste that bad? What’s wrong with the crust that it’s such a hindrance to eat? Pizza crust is essentially bread so why just leave it? I’m not talking about whether people may leave the crust for health reasons such as digestive issues, dietary reasons or something along those lines. I can understand that, but what I can’t understand is people leaving the crust behind when it would be perfectly fine for them to eat it.

One of the biggest arguments is that some people feel that the crust lacks flavor, which I feel is simply untrue. For one, it’s the synergy with the sauce, cheese and toppings paired with the crust that makes it work and it’s plenty flavorful to eat on its own as well. Even then it’s like arguing that bread lacks flavor.

Another thing is that people often argue that sometimes the pizza crust can be too crunchy or hard. This solely depends on the quality of how the crust is prepared, as the crust should be, if prepared right, soft, yet sturdy and crunchy enough to provide a good crunch when you bite into it. Pizza crust, when prepared right, is integral to the pizza experience.

The pizza crust is also just a convenient factor in eating pizza, as the crust provides a convenient place to hold the pizza. Without it, you would get your hands all messy and greasy eating the pizza. If you’re not going to eat pizza crust because you don’t like pizza crust, I would recommend just eating something else instead.
