Why Sabrina Carpenter’s Songs are so Iconic

While Sabrina Carpenter has tears running down her thighs, I have tears running down my eyes—figuratively that is. Sabrina has transformed drastically from her earliest days where she starred in Girl Meets World to become one of the most iconic pop stars in the modern music climate. There’s just something about her music that is so majestic and encapsulating, and her look and aesthetic are merely the complimentary aspects that just so happen to be the cherry on top. While her single Thumbs, released in 2016 was one of the initial songs that led to her musical success, it was her single Espresso, released in 2024, that catapulted her to greater heights within the industry.

Sabrina just makes you feel hot…sexy…or we could even go as far as our Mean Girls days and say fetch. Her lyrics are the knives that craft her into the beautiful sculpture that she is. She is able to exude both hotness and confidence through her music, and she is able to transfer that energy to the listener, making them feel sexy too.

Many of her songs appear to be PG from the naked ear, but when you delve deep into her lyrics and understand the real context behind some of her songs you’ll learn fairly quickly that Sabrina is the master of the double entendre. To get a better understanding, let’s just say that Tears is not exactly about crying and that Taste is not just about a kiss on the mouth. It’s the underlying contexts that make Sabrina’s songs ten times more clever than what they appear to be—and twenty times more risky than they appear to be.

I’d say my favorite song by Carpenter is her single Tears featured on her recent album “Man’s Best Friend”. It has the retro feel that many of Sabrina’s songs possess, feeling like a gem straight out of the 80s. The song sounds like a traditional sad song until you hear the first line of the song followed by her iconic use of adlibs in which she whispers shikitah, something that appears frequently throughout the song. Then you realize quickly that Sabrina is not talking about anything related to her face but rather alluding to something far more lewd. She even included a short dance break within the song where she performed a dance that her fans attempted to recreate on TikTok, giving it that Broadway musical feel.

Sabrina is able to transform her musical genius into iconic live performances where she exhibits her creativity and improvisation to add a little treat to her concerts. She is so well versed in every aspect of entertainment as she can seemingly do it all. She is continuing to grow immensely in success and is paving the way to becoming one of the most iconic pop artists of all time.
