Why The Sims 4 Still Does More for Queer Identity Than Most AAA Games

The Sims series has always let players dress a character how they want and be with either gender, regardless of the gender of the character they made is. Now, for Sims 4, players, you can make a male character appear pregnant, and a female character can be the “father.” Which is great especially for the queer-identifying players.

But when you play something like Skyrim, or any other game that lets you be Queer the female is always the one carrying the baby. This shows that sims 4 supports the Queer Identity far better than any game with the AAA name. Most cozy games let you be queer but still the female carries the child and I think that is not fair to the community.

Video games help us escape the things that make us unhappy in life and let us be who we really are. It lets us be free from social norms and be who we want to be. For the ones who have family that doesn’t support their queer identity, they can hide in the game and be who we really are.

But even with all that, Sims 4 still goes beyond and lets the player wear skirts if they play a male or a suit if they are a woman. It doesn’t matter what the player identifies as Sims 4 has got the player covered and goes beyond a normal game that has character creation. There are also tons of mods in the game that lets the player go even further. Mods are great when you are looking for a special thing like a design for an outfit or just simply making it easier or harder to play, creating cool challenges for the player.

Sims 4 is a fantastic game for imagination, creation, made up storylines that the player comes up with, and support of the LGBTQ+ community. It does way more than most AAA games, and that can be frustrating to some players. I hope for the sake of the community that other games will jump on the bandwagon and join them.
