Transportation has been one of the significant issues fans have to tackle when planning trips to concerts and festivals. In a perfect world, stadiums would have various convenient ways for fans to travel to their events. Unfortunately, many stadiums in the United States can be so much of a hassle to get to that fans often refrain from even traveling there.
Despite being primarily a sports stadium, Citi Field recently revealed expanded transportation options that would help get to their games more easily. The initiative aims to help cut down on car traffic and pedestrian safety, issues that often crop up around major events.
Some options include creating a website for fans to customize travel plans based on location, offering real-time transportation, and traffic situations. Discounted parking, shuttles, encouraging prepaid ticket pricing, and even collaborating with the MTA reduce Long Island Railroad adult day pass tickets by five dollars.
These expanded options are a great example for other stadiums to adopt. While public events can be a great time to enjoy favorite bands and meet new people, they can often make the lives of local residents harder than they need to be. Complaints against public events are likely to climb as the weather gets warmer. Having options like these would reduce the chances of public backlash or proposed banning of events like these in certain areas.
Additionally, due to the price of gas going up exponentially due to the war in Iran, financing alternative forms of transportation to cars would have the compound effect of improving the daily commute outside of events.
