NASA’s Perseverance rover just sent back images, allowing them to release a new panoramic image of Mars.  The rover, “Percy,” arrived on Mars last week.

The image was captured by the rover using its Mastcam-Z.  By rotating 360 degrees, the instrument was able to take a picture of the Jezero Crater of Mars at each angle.  With more than 140 images sent back to Earth, NASA was able to combine these images to create the panorama and showcase the landscape.

Perseverance has over two dozen cameras, accompanied by other tech, to capture high quality images and explore Mars.  These technologies make Percy the most revolutionary rover NASA has used yet.

The rover was also able to capture audio from Mars, which NASA released earlier this week.  The audio showcases both the sounds of the rover and a breeze on the planet.

In addition to capturing images and audio from Mars, the rover is searching for signs of ancient life and helping prepare for human exploration.
