Tom Brady closes in on limited ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders

Tom Brady is closing in on limited ownership of the Las Vegas Raiders. According to NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Brady’s investment in the team will be evaluated in late March 2024 during The NFL Annual League Meeting.

According to Sportico, the first reports of Brady’s investment came in early May 2023, though discussions of it reportedly dated back to 2022. His group co-founded by Tom Wagner, Knighthead Capital, was set to buy 10% of the Raiders. Out of that 10%, Brady would own 7%.

This is hardly Brady’s first investment with Knighthead Capital. His other investments included the Las Vegas Aces, Birmingham City FC, Las Vegas Night Owls, and E1 Series: Electric boat racing team.

Unfortunately, Brady’s investment didn’t sit well with many NFL owners. Sportico estimates that the Las Vegas Raiders are worth $5.77 billion. For many, Brady’s initial purchase was deemed 70% below market value, according to the Washington Post. This resistance held back Brady’s purchase for over eight months until recently.

According to Rapoport and Pelissero, Brady’s investment was reconsidered and ultimately, it was determined that the purchase would need to be increased in order to reflect the Raider’s valuation.

If recent reports are to be believed, it is said that Brady went through with the ultimatum. From now on, the state of Brady’s purchase is left to the NFL’s officials. But Brady isn’t sitting in silence waiting. According to Rapoport, he had helped Mark Davis in the hiring of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy as an unofficial advisor.

Outside of his potential ownership of the Raiders, Brady is heading towards the end of his playing career. The star football player had already made known plans to debut as a sports Broadcaster on Fox.

Brady restated his eagerness to dive into sports broadcasting on his SirusXM podcast “Let’s Go!”.

“I’ve got a big broadcasting job that’s going to start in September. I’m already working hard on trying to make sure I’m ready for that opportunity,” he said.

Until then, fans of Brady will have to wait for the final say on his Raiders’ investment in March. If it manages to go through, it would certainly make a terrific end to his playing career.
