“Die With a Smile” and Why It’s so Moving

There is not always a concrete answer to how certain songs rise to popularity. With the media landscape constantly evolving, it can be a struggle for artists to remain relevant and provide music that can keep up with every phase of the year. However, for some artists, they can prove that they never lost their stride and put  out work that shows why people loved them in the first place.

“Die With a Smile” is a song released in August last year by the combined efforts  of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, who have both been in the game for years. Both  have plenty of songs to their name that now are seen as classics, like “Grenade”  (2010) and “Poker Face” (2008). Their voices shine in this collaboration to make a  bittersweet song about eternal love and commitment.

The topic of love is something that isn’t new to music, but the lyrics of the song  leave room for the interpretation of any kind of emotional connection. Perhaps for  some, the song internalizes the feelings they have for their romantic partner, or for others, it could be about the bond that siblings share. The love for a pet can even be thought of from a certain point of view. The song feels different for everybody, but it connects all to the human capacity to undoubtedly treasure someone.

Many people share the same sentiment, leading to the creation of thoughtful edits of the song on social media. The song grabbed a lot of attention with how it easily fit in many moments from tv shows and movies. The amazing vocals of both Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars infuse deep emotion to their lyrics, with the instrumental elements complementing them the whole way. It all comes together to make a song that always manages to make the listener shed a tear.
