Hurricane Gabrielle is now considered a threat

Hurricane Gabriel is now considered a threat.

The storm has been classified as Category 3. It’s intensifying in the Atlantic and as of this morning, is located about 210 miles southeast of Bermuda.

Sustained winds about 90 mph with higher gusts. By this evening, it looks like it will become a major hurricane.

The Hurricane Center forecasts that Gabrielle will begin to move northeastward. It’s going to affect the entire East Coast region. Ranging from North Carolina to Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island to name a few)

In addition, best to be on the lookout for swells. A group of waves generated by the storm’s potent winds are expected to cause damage. Forecasters expect that the swells will cause life-threatening surf activity and rip current conditions.

Everyone in the East Coast region is advised to plan ahead and focus on potential evacuation procedures. Check to see if you have insurance, document possessions, and organize disaster supplies.

If necessary, strengthen your home in order to withstand the effects of Hurricane Gabrielle. Trim trees and install storm shutters, accordion shutters, and impact glass, and seal outside wall openings.

For any more updates about Hurricane Gabrielle, make sure to check the official National Hurricane Center website at hurricanes.gov. Advisories and forecasts are constantly updated, so that you know the developments on what to proceed if Hurricane Gabrielle comes to your area.
