On November 2nd, American singer and member of the rock band, Grateful Dead, Donna Jean Godchaux, passed away after losing her fight with cancer at the age of 78. She passed away in the Nashville hospice surrounded by her family.
Donna Jean Godchaux was born in 1947 and has contributed significantly to the history of music. She has produced songs alongside several legends of the art form, including Elvis Presley.
After the death of the artist was announced, fans and friends all around the world have taken to social media to give their condolences and show their support for the grieving family.
A representative of Jean gave the following statement: “She was a sweet and warmly beautiful spirit, and all those who knew her are united in loss. The family requests privacy at this time of grieving. In the words of Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, ‘May the four winds blow her safely home,’”.
Maggie Rose has also come out and expressed her regrets about the death of Donna Jean Godchaux. “I didn’t get to meet her, and I regret that,” she continues, “I know she passed in Nashville, and we share so many musical waypoints, which makes me feel even closer to her legacy.”. Additionally, she also said, “I offer my condolences to her family and to everyone who loved her — there are so many.”.
