AC/DC Shakes the Earth in Recent Performance, Setting off Earthquake Equipment

Recently, AC/DC, the famous rock band that produced the well-known song ‘Thunderstruck, has once again taken the stage and this time, struck the earth. In an opening show for the band’s ‘Power Up’ tour in Australia, the sound generated from that concert was detected by earthquake monitoring equipment, meaning that the band and their fans literally shook the earth hard enough to be an indicator of an earthquake.

Pascale, a resident and chief scientist in the area gave the following statement to the Australian Broadcasting Network (ABC) regarding the event: “We’re picking up the ground motion, we’re not picking up the sound from the air,” he continues, “So, you’ve got speakers on the ground pumping out vibrations and that gets transmitted through the ground, but also the crowd jumping up and down is feeding energy into the ground.”.

It was reported that residents over 6 miles away from the concert, which was held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium, were able to hear the music.

AC/DC has made major waves with their ‘Power Up’ tour, which initially started in 2024. They started the tour in Europe and sold over 2 million tickets there before moving to North America and completely selling out there. With the performance the band gave in Melbourne, Australia, they might just follow the pattern of the two previous stops and purchase nearly every single ticket.

AC/DC is an iconic band, and it is no surprise that they are loved by fans and are getting such a massive response from their newest tour. May the rest of their tour be as great as their first show in Australia and may their lost band member rest in peace.
