On December 14th, Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home with multiple stab wounds. They were discovered by their youngest child, Romy, who reported the murders to the police. Nick Reiner, the son of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, was arrested that same day. He, not resisting arrest and entering police custody with no incidents.
Nick Reiner was born in 1993 and is known for being the son of Rob Reiner and the co-writer for the film “Being Charlie”, which was released in 2015. Nick Reiner has had a long history of struggling with drug addiction and homelessness during his career. Allegedly, before the murder occurred, Nick was seen at a party having an intense argument with his parents.
Today, Wednesday, December 17th, three days after he allegedly murdered his parents, Nick Reiner made his first appearance in a Los Angeles courtroom. It was reported that he wore a suicide prevention smock, usually worn by defendants who have a serious risk of self-harm. In his case, he is represented by his attorney, Alan Jackson, and two other lawyers.
When confronted by reporters outside of the courthouse, Alan Jackson gave the following statement: “We ask that during this process you allow the system to move forward in the way it was designed. Not with a rush to judgment. Not with jumping to conclusions. But with restraint and with dignity.”
After the first hearing in court, Nick Reiner was denied bail and charged with two counts of 1st-degree murder by the court. If Nick Reiner is convicted on all counts, he faces the possibility of life in prison without parole or being given the death penalty.
