“Golden” (K-Pop Demon Hunters) Reaches Over One Billion Streams on Spotify

Originally released in 2025, the love and popularity of the summer blockbuster hit, KPop Demon Hunters, is still going strong in 2026.  Released to Netflix on June 20, 2025, the film took the world by storm and defined many odds in modern day cinema.  After being sold to Netflix by Sony for a relatively “cheap” amount of around 100 million dollars following the pandemic, the film soon grew to be popular and a “cash cow” for Netflix, increasing revenue and subscriptions for the streaming company.

While praised for many different reasons, such as the story, animation, and heart of the film, the film undeniably remains popular and relevant due to the viral song “Golden”.  Co-written by singer-songwriter EJAE, real name Kim Eun-jae, and Mark Sonnenblick, the song tells the story of the three main characters and how only by working together are they able to overcome challenges and inner demons that hold them back.  Upbeat, energetic, and harmonious, the song won the hearts of many for its message of finding hope and perseverance through difficult times, a much-needed message for many following the aftermath of the global pandemic.

Featuring the talents of EJAE (Kim Eun-ja), Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami (Sarah Yeeun Lee), who provide the singing voices for the main characters, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, “Golden” has officially made history.  Surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify, the song “Golden” has topped many charts, both in 2025 and 2026 as of late.  Claiming the number one spot worldwide, the love and popularity for “Golden” is only increasing, and it looks like the song is only “going up, up, up” for many days to come.
