Why Young Conservative Men Might Lead Is Declining MAGA’s Influence

The MAGA movement has been in a surprisingly tough spot in the last few years due to a particular problem among its youngest members. Young male conservatives, particularly from Gen Z, have consistently been some of the movement’s most vocal supporters online. However, recent trends have seen this particular group become more alienated, leaving many republicans and MAGA members worried.

Young conservative men, if they didn’t get their values from growing up in conservative households, are likely to be influenced by online content creators. In fact, a massive portion of conservative young men were influenced that way by notable figures like Charlie Kirk, Adin Ross, and other influencers.

These creators were effective in appealing to contrarian issues that speak to those who feel disillusioned or ignored, perfect for young men who feel alienated by modern-day left-leaning politics that, to them, demonize men. That is why the manosphere, an online community that promotes masculinity over feminism and misogyny, through creators like Andrew Tate, is so popular.

However, while these online communities have been a great boon to boosting MAGA supporters, it has also become a hindrance. Many of these creators, and by large their audiences, have drifted further right, so far right that even some within Republican and MAGA spaces are growing concerned. This was only exacerbated by political events, including the Palestinian genocide, Charlie Kirk’s assassination, and even the war with Iran.

While some of these influencers have walked back their extreme views, others have not. More and more people have become antisemitic, with figures like Nick Fuentes and groypers taking center stage. This has led to a growing schism within the American conservative space and has grounds to fully reshape what the Republican Party means in the future.
