Supermodel and television personality Tyson Beckford was born on December 19, 1970, in the Bronx, NY. Spending most of his early life in Jamaica before returning to the U.S. to attend high school.  Starting off on a bumpy road, high school was not easy for Beckford, causing him to fall on hard times. 

However, things would soon change for the young Beckford when he was discovered by The Source magazine in the early 90s. Scouted by an editor from the magazine, Beckford soon became a prominent figure in the modeling industry, especially in the clothing brand of Ralph Lauren’s Polo Sport line in 1993.

Now, even at 55, Beckford is still modeling to this very day. Counting to break racial boundaries for models of color and serving as a positive figure for young men wanting to break into modeling, Beckford serves in more ways than one in the modeling industry!
