There Might Never Be Another Pop Star, And That’s Okay

Among the many artists within the music industry, those that are labeled pop stars took audiences by storm and still manage to maintain their power even years after their careers have ended. That said, as the years have pressed on from the 2000s to the 2020s, many have wondered if the days of the pop star have already passed.

Unfortunately, many with this opinion may be right, especially as society has progressed to be much more critical of the business practices within the entertainment industry and the death of celebrity culture.

Despite the highest of highs from the careers of artists like Michael Jackson and Brittney Spears, the blood, sweat, tears, and the mental stress of their workload and media buzz that hit these artists are impossible to ignore. Fans have seen the amount of training and workload it takes to get people to that level of talent, and the abuse many of these artists had to undergo to get to the place they’re in.

However, even the amount of fame they garnered didn’t keep them away from that pressure; instead, many artists took extreme measures to cope and maintain their success, from drugs, extensive plastic surgery, harmful dieting practices, and much more.

Ariana Grande, in particular, who many consider to be one of the last remaining modern pop star figures, hasn’t been safe from many of the harmful effects of the entertainment industry. Images of her appearance while performing on The Eternal Sunshine Tour sparked controversy over a concerning level of thinness seen on her body.

Regardless, many see becoming a pop star figure as more trouble than it’s worth and that maybe it should stay in the past.
