Anyone who is willing to lie and protect a murderer and could potentially be the reason the murderer kills again should definitely be charged, and not just as an accomplice; they should be facing charges of tampering with evidence, compromising an investigation, and lying to police or investigators. There is no other way to see this.
If I had someone in my family die because someone knew the murderer and didn’t tell anyone that they were going to do it, I would be very upset and probably would want to sue the person and seek justice for my family member.
Even though I’d never fully understand why they chose to protect the person, I can relate to wanting to protect someone if they were a spouse, sibling, or parent. I would never agree that it’s okay because of those relations to the potential suspect, because murder is murder, and family is not exempt from being charged.
If this subject is controversial to anyone, I would suspect that they have been in that situation. Even if it’s a murderer who is killing murderers, it’s still murder, and there is a fine white line of what is considered justice or not. That said, I would say someone stopping murderers from killing again is kind of justice because they could potentially be saving future lives. If that person dying stops five or ten other innocent people from dying, then that is justice in my book.
If that makes me a bad person, I could live with that. It reminds me of a show I’ve seen where the girl reported a crime, but they never believed her, and at the end, one of the officers said she was lying the whole time, but the other officer sent pictures to prove she was telling the truth. In the end, even if you feel like nobody will believe you if you tell the truth, don’t hold back because you can potentially save lives, and that is the most important thing.
