President Donald Trump this Monday showcased his uber-strong support for AI data centers being placed in communities across the country. These AI data centers have been highly controversial in the communities where they are being built.
This stance and statement around communities that are against data centers being backwards and poor has become another key topic before midterm elections.
Trump has been a long term defender and encourager of artificial intelligence advancements, constantly pressing on for the US to be the world leaders in AI.
To further explain, data centers provide the power needed to process large amounts of information. They typically hold thousands of computers and require tremendous amounts of land, water, and energy, which strains local communities of power, water, and land in general.
Data centers have been a topic ahead of the midterm elections because of community pushback against AI companies.
Vice President JD Vance said the president’s message was focused on the economics around data centers and has acknowledged the backlash around data centers as a whole. Vance also defended data centers, explaining that a lot of the concern around them in terms of power stations and bills won’t be major.
While a lot of government representatives have gone out of their way to pause development on these data centers in an attempt to ensure that communities won’t be harmed in the creation of these data center projects.
A stance President Trump has looked down upon, arguing there are more communities that want data centers than ones that don’t. Arguing still these anti-data center communities are holding back money and growth in communities that need data centers to be built and developed. Trump has continued arguing that data centers are the top of the financial world and will be bigger and better than even oil in the economy.
To be completely honest, data centers being built is some of the worst things happening in America at the moment. They absolutely, in fact, overconsume electricity and use and pollute water, and completely drive up local utility bills, and if that wasn’t enough to deter you, data centers also create air pollution. These data centers are disgusting, and their developments need to be more than halted; they need to be completely stopped, and the ones already existing need to be shut down and removed from where they are. They destroy communities, the planet, and uproot communities altogether and only benefit 1 percenters while harming and screwing over everyone else.
