When I say I have a pretty strong dislike for AI, I am starting to feel like that statement is actually an understatement for my true dislike. And it’s not just for generative AI destroying the environment, it’s how major uses of AI are purely unethical and used due to human laziness. One sector I’ve grown strongly to despise AI is in usage of the military, maybe not outright banning it but restricting military ai usage is going to be possible a major change that needs to come.
What happens when it’s a life or death situation and an AI model being used makes a mistake or is slightly inaccurate in a drone strike or worse becomes used for logical decision making and makes the wrong decision. Now not only is the human oversight or humanized data processing gone but as well as there are unreliable sources at the spearhead of life or death situations needed for the defense of entire nations.
As well AI in the military possibly being a major security risk. What if the person in charge has a human moment of laziness or is overly trusting in the AI decision making. This directly lessens the human oversight needed for something as serious as national defense, as well as many of the operators of these systems not being able to verify, check nor see possible biases being made.
With more tech advances each year, digital warfare is becoming more and more known and sought after. But with the AI program what happens if there is a security leak or a breach of the Ai securities system? That could be catastrophic and extremely dangerous.
When the only defense for AI usage in the military and the building of Data Centers is we have to beat China, it just shows there is no prominent or well thought out reason outside of convenience and the fact that the pelicans and officials get money and checks from it constantly.
