Recently, President Donald Trump has made headlines once again, somehow; this time? Wanting to tear down the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His reason? Because the courts rejected him from placing his name on the building.
President Trump was in an attempt to add his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts without receiving congressional approval first or at all. His argument for doing this followed the lines of saying the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts was losing America tens of billions of dollars each and every year for a long time and has been a net-negative on the American economy for too long.
But actually, just back in 2024, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts had a net profit of 40 million dollars, right before President Trump came into office for his presidential term. Actually, ticket sales dropped around 30% after President Trump came into office and kept dropping lower when Trump announced and kept speaking about placing his name on the building.
Back in 2025, Trump also appointed himself as a chairman on the executive board at the Kennedy Center, leading to staff layoffs, which led to around 83 percent of the staff being fired. And with all these publicly received negatives around the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, many artists, performers, and organizations backed away or out completely, leading to the Kennedy Center losing a few million that year following Trump’s involvement.
And now, after being denied the ability to put his name on the Kennedy Center after tying future renovations and improvements to the name change, President Trump is now opting instead to outright rip down the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This led to a federal judge ruling that President Trump can’t do anything unless he gives out a 30-day notice ahead of time.
You’d think, since you know the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is such a negative on America per Donald Trump, he wouldn’t want his name on it, considering that after his name got attached in the first place, it started to lose money, but those are the opinions for everyone else to formulate regarding the President of the United States.
