Bio

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio was born on March 10, 1994 in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. He was born into a working-class family, and was raised in Puerto Rico. His father was a truck driver, and his mother was a teacher, both native Puerto Ricans. Music was a major aspect of his life early on, as he joined his church’s choir at only five years old. During his college years at the University of Puerto Rico Arecibo campus, he worked at a local grocery store as a bagger and was also uploading his songs to Soundcloud. These songs led him to be signed by Rimas Entertainment in 2016, and kicked off a career that will be remembered for generations.

As a Latin rap artist, Beniot, or better known as Bad Bunny, has seen immense success since the beginning of his career.  His debut album, X 100PRE, hit #11 on the Billboard 200 after its release in December 2018, and was #1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. Despite the album being his first, it received a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album. The song Krippy Kush was the first song he had that charted on the Billboard Top 100, placing at #75. I Like It, a Cardi-B song he was featured on, was the first single he was a part of that placed at #1. Since 2018, Bad Bunny has released seven albums total–all appearing on Billboard Charts.

Along with topping charts and dominating in streams, Bad Bunny has been nominated for sixteen Grammys, and took home six of them; Album of the Year (2026), Best Música Urbana Album (2026, 2023, 2022), Best Global Musical Performance (2026), and Best Latin Pop or Urban Album (2021). At the 2026 Grammys, his album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, broke history by being the first Spanish-language album to win the category. On streaming services, Bad Bunny became the first non-English language artist to be the most streamed artist of the year from 2020-2022. We also saw him tackle the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2026, not only breaking barriers for Latin artists, but continuing to share his music with the world. The performance was the most-watched halftime show in NFL history, and led to his record-breaking number of tickets sold for his upcoming tour.

When he is not making music, we see Bad Bunny in the fashion, acting, and advocacy worlds. We have seen him on the cover of Vogue, and partnering with well-known brands such as Adidas and Calvin Klein. Acting has been another major part of his recent career, starring in the hit movie Happy Gilmore 2 alongside stars such as Adam Sandler and Travis Kelce, and also with Brad Pitt in Bullet Train. Through not only his Super Bowl performance, but throughout his entire time in the spotlight, he continuously advocates for his home, Puerto Rico, and its residents, and the LGBTQ+ community as well.

Bad Bunny has become a household name, and his legacy will forever be remembered as being an individual who broke barriers, broke records, and stole our hearts all at once.
